William Bleasdell Cameron was born in Trenton, Ontario in 1862. He died in 1951. Through two different centuries he travelled, worked in a variety of occupations, including as a land agent, newspaperman, editor of Field & Stream magazine, pharmacist, municipal politician, mink rancher and movie consultant. He was the sole white male survivor of the Frog Lake Massacre. He wrote the book "Blood Red the Sun" (1926), based on that incident.
