The fonds consists of three albums of photographs relating to the personal and private life of the Smith Family from around 1910 to 1938. The scope of the material varies from album to album. One album contains pictures of Cecil McKee as a young woman depicting her life in Toronto, including family portraits, Centre Island, Jarvis Street, and Bay Street. Also included in this album are family photographs from the cottage which may have been located in the Thousand Islands region. The second album is predominantly comprised of photographs taken in 1913 depicting the varied engineering experience of Gordon J. Smith. The album appears to illustrate an engineering expedition starting in Alberta and moving along the Yellowhead Trail into British Columbia. Included are photographs of Hinton, Edson, Entwistle, Edmonton, Thornton, Jasper, Fitzhugh, Moose Lake, the Fraser River, Tete Jaune Cache and Lake Helena. Of particular note are some detailed shots of Mt. Robson and the glaciers at its base. The third album is of a later date and shows photographs of the family during the 1930's and features John and Eleanor as children.

File consists of testimonials regarding Ball's attendance at Queen's, and a copy and transcript of his graduation diploma. Also includes a commendation document and testimonial signed for Ball, 1845, by Liddell, Campbell and Williamson, Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario).

The 'C' Series consists of 2020 volumes of records accumulated by the British forces stationed in Canada. With very few exceptions the contents of the volumes relate to the period extending from the arrival of Lord Dorchester as Governor General and Commander of the Forces in 1786 to the date of transfer of the fortress of Halifax to the military authorities of Canada. The documents obtained from Halifax in 1873 by the consent of the War Office formed the nucleus of this series. These mainly consist of the letters and despatches with their various enclosures which accumulated in the office of the Military Secretary to the Commander of the Forces in Canada over the course of eight-five years. Also included in this collection are records relating to the administration of justice and civil government, the construction of bridges, canals, docks, lighthouses, roads, wharfs, and public buildings, immigration and the location of settlers, the management of Indigenous affairs, the conveyance of mails, the exploration of the country, the provincial marine establishment and shipping on the lakes, the state of political feeling, and relations with the United States. Of particular note are the reports and statements of confidential agents, deserters, prisoners, and spies and the matter of fact journals of officers on special service which have been preserved. The fonds been arranged into the following series: Correspondence of the Military Secretary of the Commander of the Forces; Records of the Canadian Command; Records of the Nova Scotia Command; and Miscellaneous records.

The fonds consists of a collection of colour slides, with supporting documentation in the form of 'stories' recording their creation, of a series of quilts made in concert by members, that were gathered togther for a Retrospective Show, to celebrate the first twenty years of the Kingston Heirloom Quilters.
