The fonds consists of photographs of winter activities, sketch books, newspaper clippings and souvenir booklets from various cities in Canada. Included are images of the Bank of Montreal in London, Ontario from the 1890s, snowshoing expeditions and a picnic in the early 1900s, and Revelstoke, British Columbia. Also included are sketchbooks by J. Brown of lanndscapes in 1841.

These images were shot as close as home in Kingston, Ontario, to as far away as Vancouver, British Columbia, St. John's Newfoundland, New York, New York, with Montreal, Quebec, and the Maritime Provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, in between.

The fonds consists of a complete, and an incomplete typescript, with marginalia, of Mr. Sturgess' memoirs of growing up in Kingston, Ontario.
