Young family fonds

Fonds consists of class notes/notebooks taken by Frank S. Young (Meds 1908) and his son F. Malcolm Young (Meds 1941) on various Queen's medical school courses such as pathology, bacteriology, preventative medicine, etc. It also includes laboratory reports and slides. In addition, it consists of the lecture notes and exams taken by F. Malcolm Young to become part of the Queen's University COTC (Canadian Officer Training Corps) in 1939-1940.

The fonds consists of correspondence; manuscripts, drafts and published copies; and, reviews and clippings. The material is predominantly reflective of the time that Stafford spent in Mexico and her various drafts and versions of writings that came out of those experiences. There are manuscripts for all of her published works as well as her major unpublished work about Mexico, variously titled Mexico, Mi Amour or Mexican Time. Of particular note is a file of correspondence with Jack McClelland in which Stafford discusses editorial projects as well as her own writing and publishing ambitions.

Brockington, 1936-1965, and offprints and news clippings relating to Canadian publishing. Correspondence relates to the Bibliographical Society of Canada, Bliss Carman and Canadian literature. Correspondents include Nathan Cohen, E.J. Pratt, Lady Tweedsmuir and C.B. Sissons. Includes research notes on Bliss Carman. The Gundy papers contain a great deal of valuable information concerning Canadian publishing, Canadian literacy developments and Canadian libraries over a period of almost forty years.

In addition there is an extensive collection of financial records including invoices and accounts, ledgers, time books and farm journals. These documents cover the period from the 1870's to 1922. There are also three diaries for 1880, 1884 and 1887. This collection documents the very important aspect of the history of lumbering in the Ottawa Valley.
